UV Mapping help!

Hello,

I have a problem with a piece with zinc polished texture. I can’t map it rightly. Can anyone help me please?

Border has a hard change that it is not the desired

Thanks

I don’t think your mapping is the issue. Maybe you can edit normal and apply an angle of around 25 and see if it gets smoother.

And maybe it helps to add a tiny but of roughness since no surface is perfect or change the HDRI a bit. If your entire logo needs to be polished zinc you can also just delete all the mapping since you don’t really need an UV.

It’s not a mapping issue, but the geometry of bevels in your model. If you have access to CAD model - try to change the bevel type to ‘curvature’ bevels or change the tangency coefficient. The most radical solution is to replace the bevels with custom-built surfaces with very smooth curvature transitions to flat faces, but it’s overkill here I think. Simplest solution is retesselate object in KS with higher precision.

Thanks for the answers. The best way to mitigate this hard change is deleting the bevel on my 3D software (solidworks) and adding rounded edges on KS.

Just be aware that those rounded edges are a trick and not actual rounded edges. Maybe that’s no issue for this model but it can result in a bit of render artifacts.
